How was your Thanksgiving?!
This time of year is my absolute favorite time of year…..minus the snow.
It starts in October with Halloween and then thanksgiving and then Christmas and New Year.
It’s not just thanksgiving that makes me be grateful but it is this whole last part of the year. It’s all in our perception of things. It is true- how a man thinks is how he will be.
What are some things that you can be thankful for this time of year – train your brain to be grateful.
Here are some things to help you get started:
Thankful for a new opportunity
If you’re a new blended family you can be grateful for a new season and put together a new list of traditions and experiences with your family. If you have been blended for a while you can be thankful for another year to spend together to try to think of something new to do, ESPECIALLY if you’re in a new season (like us) where the kids are grown up.
Thankful for God’s grace
The holidays can be stressful if we let them. We can focus on God’s grace and how it is renewed every day. Lamentations 3:22-23 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. We can give ourselves over to God daily and trust that He is working things out.
Thankful for the community
Whether it’s your family, your church family, your friends, or all three, the community is definitely something to be thankful for. What was Jesus on this earth for?…….. People – he was here for the people. Do not take for granted the people in your life no matter how big or small your circle is. Get up every day and be grateful for them.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice this Holiday season that God is with you and He will never fail you.
