Kristy and I have made a deal that we only purchase Christmas gifts for family and for the kids. When we first got together we made such little money that we really couldn’t afford to buy each other gifts and instead of feeling guilty about it or trying to make it work, we just made a pact with each other that we wouldn’t.

Well, I broke said pact this year. (took me 11 years!) Don’t worry, I pre-warned her it was not something big and I really wanted to get it for her. She was good with that.

There are many things that social media is bad for but every once in a while, something great comes from it. I was scrolling (mindlessly) about a month ago and came across a very targeted ad for couples.

I don’t know about you, but I almost always refuse to click on an ad because I don’t want it chasing me around for the next month! This ad was way too intriguing for me not to click.

It had a picture of the happiest couple in the world (🙄) with multiple colors of paint on each other. The title read something to the effect of “The Adventure You Never Knew You Needed with Your Spouse.”

That was good enough for me to click on! This led me down a rabbit hole of reviews and articles until I couldn’t wait to give this company my money and break an 11 year pact with my wife.

The website is: theadventurechallenge.com/products/couples-edition-book

This is not an affiliate link or anything, I just want you to enjoy what we are going to enjoy.

The Adventure Challenge: Couples Edition. This is what I bought:

“50 Scratch-Off Adventures

Make a memory! With this book as your guide, you and your significant other will grow in new levels of your relationship through adventures and experiences you will never forget.

The catch? Your adventure is a surprise until you scratch off a challenge. It’s like scratching a lottery ticket but you win every time! Whether you’re cooking a delicious apple pie while blindfolded, recreating your grandparents’ very first date, or painting a masterpiece on a unique canvas.

You will find spontaneity, romance, and excitement in your relationship as your adventure challenges unfold.”

I encourage you to do what I did and go check it out! Amazing.

Ok so I want to quickly give you 3 reasons I bought this, and why I believe you should do the same.

1. We need adventure in our marriage

We want to be spontaneous. We really do. Let’s be honest, after a brutal day at work, grocery shopping, making dinner, shoveling the driveway (if you live in a dumb state with snow), taking care of kids and so much more… The last thing we have left is energy to be creative and adventurous.

We need this in our lives, people. We can NOT let our marriage get stagnant. We have to do for this marriage what we were not willing to in the last.

2. Step outside your comfort zone…together

Part of the challenge is to scratch off a secret activity and once it’s scratched, you MUST do it! This is so good for us as a couple. Being vulnerable and willing to be uncomfortable…TOGETHER will strengthen your marriage in a way that will make it unbreakable.

3. Fun

When was the last time you had fun with your spouse?

When Kristy and I first got together we would lay in bed and stay up most of the night laughing ourselves to tears. Now, we need our sleep and that seems almost ridiculous.

We need this fun in our marriage, even when it seems ridiculous.

So we encourage you to do this challenge with us! Pick a day of the week or month and take your spouse on an adventure!

We love you…God loves you.
